Frequently Asked Questions

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I ORDER?

We need at least 3 days (72 hours) notice to design and deliver your sweet art to your doorstep (or for collection at one of our branches)!  Please choose your delivery date during checkout.

HOW DOES DELIVERY WORK?

You will receive your delivery Monday to Saturday between 08h00 & 18h00 on the delivery date you chose. We can guarantee your delivery date but not the delivery time. 

On the day of delivery, our driver will attempt to contact you & will wait for 10 minutes before leaving. We cannot stress how important it is to give us the correct contact number and any special delivery instructions.  Thereafter, we will return your cake to our production facility in Pretoria and you will need to make arrangements to collect the order. If you choose to collect the cake from one of our branches, your order will be ready by 11 am on the day. If you don’t collect the cake by the end of the next day, it will again be returned to our production facility in Pretoria. Please note, your delivery fee is non-refundable & unfortunately, we cannot accommodate redeliveries. Once your cake has been delivered/collected, we are not responsible for any damage that incurs to your cake. 

Delivery is charged at a tiered rate and is calculated based on the distance from Midrand (we chose a central location to benefit all our customers). We will deliver up to 80km from Midrand. Deliveries to longer distance locations can be arranged on request and are based on availability. We strive to keep our delivery charges fixed but due to the high fluctuation of fuel pricing, they are subject to change. 

HOW DO I STORE MY CAKE?

Our cakes are perfectly fine if you store them in a cool and dry area for about 2 days before you serve them unless they contain fresh fruit or other sensitive ingredients. Only refrigerate if your kitchen gets hot during the day or on hot days in summer. After slicing, keep your cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 additional days. To keep a cake for more than 1 week, freeze it asap.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE INFORMATION I ENTER ON YOUR WEBSITE?

We recognize how important it is to guard and protect your personal information. We strive to abide by the provisions of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and we collect only necessary information from you in order to provide you with our best service. 

If you receive communication from Cake Zone, you will have the opportunity to opt from future communications from us. We will not use your personal information for any other purpose without your permission.

CAN I ORDER A CUSTOM OR WEDDING CAKE? I DON’T SEE WHAT I WANT ON THE WEBSITE.

If you cannot find your favorite cake design for your special celebration in our online store or if you are looking for a wedding cake, we will be happy to craft a custom design for you. Just follow the process on our Custom Cakes page and we will make that happen – Remember, “If you can Dream it, We CAN make it” 

ARE YOUR CAKES VEGAN, SUGAR-FREE OR GLUTEN-FREE?

No, they are not. Our cakes contain traditional ingredients like butter, sugar and flour. 

WHAT ALLERGENS ARE INCLUDED IN YOUR CAKES?

Our cakes do contain the following allergens: milk, eggs, wheat, gluten and some contain nuts. We will not be held responsible for any adverse reactions to ingredients.

DO YOU SHIP YOUR CAKES NATIONWIDE?

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY?

If you cancel your order more than three days before your delivery/collection day, you will receive a full refund minus a 10% admin fee. If you cancel two days before your delivery/collection day, you will receive a 50% online store credit and if you cancel after one day before, you will receive no refund or store credit as your cake will have already been made. 

Due to the tedious, handcrafted nature of our baked goods, we are unable to provide refunds or exchanges for any of our items once a cake has been received by the designated party.  Refunds requested due to decorating style, colour shade or general decoration design will not be honored. Refunds requested due to flavour is subjective and will also not be honored. You may qualify for a store credit if the product is brought back to us and the quality of the cake is determined not to meet our standards. 

You have collected or accepted delivery of your cake, we will not be responsible for any damage incurred during transportation or setup. Cakes are very sensitive to heat! If you are collecting, please have adequate space on a level surface such as your front passenger seat foot area. We recommend you keep the  air-conditioning on while driving towards your destination. Drive slowly and carefully as road bumps and sudden car movements might affect your cake. .

Any complaints must be reported with us within 48 hours of your collecting / receiving the cake. We will assess complaints on a case-by-case basis, so when you receive your order, please inspect it carefully and if you’re not happy, contact us straight away.
